The Point’s senior reporter Sainey MK Marenah Saturday left the country for the Ghanaian capital of Accra to take part in a two-week journalism training.
Mr Marenah, who is also the Agricultural Spectrum columnist, went along with three other colleagues via Dakar to partake in the international training on “The Media’s Role in Conflict Transformation and Peace Building in West Africa”.
The course is organised by the International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) and GIZ - Deutsche Gessellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit - a German Cooperation in collaboration with the Ghana International Press Centre.
The other young journalists selected from The Gambia for this year’s training are Lamin Njie, deputy editor-in-chief of Daily News newspaper, reporters Binta A. Bah and Mafugi Ceesay of Daily News and The Voice Newspaper respectively.
The two-week course, scheduled to commence on March 19, will bring together journalists from different ECOWAS countries.
