The event, held on 12 September 2026 at the university's state-of-the-art campus, brought together students, community leaders, residents and other stakeholders committed to advancing environmental conservation initiatives in the region.
The exercise saw the planting of numerous trees across the campus, with organisers highlighting the importance of afforestation in combating climate change, enhancing biodiversity and improving the natural environment.
Participants described the initiative as a significant step towards fostering a culture of environmental stewardship among young people and local communities.
According to organisers, the newly planted trees are expected to contribute to long-term environmental conservation efforts while supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. Beyond their environmental benefits, the trees symbolise hope for a greener and more sustainable future for communities across Kombo East.
The initiative also formed part of broader efforts to raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources and encouraging community participation in environmental action.
