A majority of Gambian youth are working hard to reduce poverty in the country through initiatives focused on skills development, entrepreneurship and empowerment. Programmes such as The Gambia Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) and Tekki Fii Project are providing vocational training and supporting Micro and Small-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to combat unemployment.

Gambian youth are actively involved in mental health prevention through advocacy campaigns, school-based training on psychological first aid, and community sensitization to reduce stigma. Youth are central to strengthening mental health through advocacy, education, and community engagement, addressing high rates of stigma and depression.
