Youth Development Specialist and Country Lead for YouthConnekt The Gambia, Basiru Jaye, is in Eswatini for engagements aimed at supporting the establishment of the YouthConnekt Eswatini Chapter.
Representatives of Eswatini Youth National Youth Council (ENYC) received Jaye at the King Mswati IIII (Sikhuphe) International Airport.
Jaye and ENYC discussed knowledge-sharing opportunities. He held discussions with ENYC leadership, Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister and senior officials, and development partners from the UNDP, the UNFPA and EU.
Jaye also held discussions with consultants such as TRECO to exchange experiences, strengthen collaboration, and support ongoing efforts to establish YouthConnekt Eswatini as a platform for youth empowerment, innovation and engagement.
Jaye expressed appreciation to UNDP Eswatini for leading efforts and spearheading support towards the establishment of YouthConnekt Eswatini, with complementary support from UNFPA Eswatini.
He also attended Eswatini Youth Conneckt activities during his stay in the country.
Meanwhile, the cabinet of Eswatini officially endorsed the establishment of the YouthConnekt Eswatini chapter to empower young people, drive job creation, and improve digital innovation.
Spearheaded by the Eswatini National Youth Council, (ENYC) in partnership with UNDP Eswatini and the Ministry of Sport, Culture & Youth Affairs, the chapter is currently in its active building and stakeholder engagement phase.
It focuses heavily on youth employability, civic leadership, and bridging the gap between youth potential and market opportunities.
Engagements for the chapter's framework involve cross-national knowledge exchange, notably with the YouthConnekt Gambia team advising on platform development.

Local Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) are already being signed with entities like the Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries - Eswatini - to help youth entrepreneurs master value chains and connect to broader markets.
