Dembo Darboe, alkalo for Gunjur expressed gratitude towards the gesture from ASFA.
Kemesseng Sanneh alias Kexx, guest speaker for the ceremony also thanked ASFA for the gesture and their efforts in empowering education.
Kebba K. Barrow, National Assembly Member for Kombo South thanked the organisation for their intervention in promoting and empowering education as well as health in Gunjur.
Hon. Barrow described knowledge as equipment that guides the world, saying in order to have good health, one must have knowledge.
He commend ASFA for their collaboration with the Village Development Committee (VCD), saying that will enhance their activities in the rightful manner as VDCs are empowered by the Local Government Act 2002 to be recognised in every village.
According to him, any group or individual who stands to support education, health and/or farming is ready to support the development of the country.
In promising them to serve as an intermediary link between ASFA and the right stakeholders, he urged them to register ASFA as a local NGO and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministries of Education and Health.
Sheiffo Kijera, chairperson for ASFA-Germany Chapter highlighted their various interventions and future plans. He stated that since their inception in 2019 they have empowered youth, education, widows, and immigrants as well as created job opportunities.
He also said that, in order to reduce deforestation and protect Gambia’s environment, they are set to commence on tree planting exercises in North Bank Region.
Ousman Jabang, headmaster for Gunjur Lower Basic School expressed appreciation to ASFA for considering the school and assured them that they will make best use of the materials.
