He won Senegal's first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 2021 by defeating Egypt on penalties, earning Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
Mendy represented his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2026 World Cup in North America.
He won the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper in 2022, becoming the first African goalkeeper to claim the award.
