Following their 4-1 defeat to Young Africans in the round sixteen ties, Bombada United on Monday beat Latrikunda United 1-0 in their re-scheduled week-fourteen fixtures in the 2012-2013 second division game played at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.
Bombada United who lost to Latrikunda United 2-1 in the first round on their own ground are fighting for promotion to the first tier next season but there will be serious competition from Banjul United, who are aiming for promotion to the premier tier next season.
Latrikunda United are currently struggling on the league standings and are fighting for survival in the second tier after their dismal performance in the first round of the league and the defeat has put them on relegation zone and need to win their remaining games to keep their chance of staying in the second tier next season.
In the other week-fourteen fixture, Wallidan defeated Serrekunda East 2-0 at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium, Banjul United beat Serrekunda United at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda, and Sait Matty trounced Lamin United 4-1 at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
Wallidan are leading the standings with 31 points in fourteen games, Banjul United and Bombada United are 2nd and 3rd respectively with 24 points each in fourteen games and seven points behind league leaders Wallidan. Sait Matty are 4th with 21 points in fourteen games.
Serrekunda United are 5th with 17 points in fourteen games, while Lamin United and Latrikunda United are languishing second from bottom with 12 points each but Latrikunda United have a game in hand against Serrekunda United.
