The Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association on Sunday held its annual general congress at the Gunjur Daycare Centre.

The congress brought together all affiliates in Gunjur and its surrounding areas to review last year’s nawettan and the upcoming season.

Speaking at the congress, the president of Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association (GYSDA), Foday Jabang, hailed the teams for their discipline during last year’s Nawettan.

Mr Jabang said that since his committee took office last year their main problem has been finance, adding that his association will try by all means to promote and develop football in Gunjur.

Jabang also commended his executive members for their hard work, dedication and commitment during the 2012-2013 Nawettan season.

Assistant Secretary General of GYSDA, Ousman Jammeh, said a congress is a constitutional mandate observed before any football season starts.

Last year’s nawettan was trouble-free, Jammeh said, adding that 24 teams took part in last year’s nawettan and World Eleven FC won the league trophy whilst Nyokoyorr FC clinched the knockout trophy.

Saikouba Manneh and Dodou Saine are also now in the GFF division league despite Gunjur’s poor run of form in the 2012 Super Nawettan zonal football tournament.

Jammeh said further that people are free to criticize when they are wrong and show them the right things and he seized the opportunity to appeal to the people to put their sentiments aside and work towards the development sport in Gunjur and will by all means to improve themselves in the upcoming season.

Jammeh also hailed all those who rendered support to GYSDA during last season’s nawettan.

The Treasurer and Auditor of Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association, Nuha Barrow and Ebrima Jammeh, both delivered their reports to the team delegates during the congress.
