World Food Programme alleged thieves face court

Ibrahim Saparteh, Biran Ann, Pa Modou Ngum and Alhagie Sillah were on the 17th February, 2026, paraded before Magistrate A. Manneh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and charged on three counts of conspiracy to commit felony contrary to Section 341 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025, store breaking contrary to Section 258 (a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025, and general punishment for theft contrary to Section 226 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025.

According to the charge sheet presented by Prosecutor ASP Barrow, Ibrahim Saparteh, Biran Ann, Pa Modou Ngum and Alhagie Sillah on or about the 6th day of February, 2026, at Kanifing South, in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of The Gambia, conspired among themselves with the intention to commit a felony therein to wit stealing.

They were also alleged that without lawful excuse, they broke into the store of World Food Programme on the same date.

Prosecutors further alleged that they stole from the World Food Programme store the following: Professional DSLR Camera Tripods 10 units valued at D57, 896.76,Two Hunda EU22i Portable generators valued at D144,615.24, HP Flatbed scanner ( Scanjet ) valued at D13,024.78, Air conditioners value unknown, Dell EMC Power Edge Rack server valued at D295,961.82,Two NEC Universal Ceiling Mounts ( NPO1 UCM) valued at D14,186,Two water dispensers value unknown, APC UPS units value unknown and cameras value unknown, total value of D525,685.08,being the properties of World Food Programme.

They all denied the allegations. As a result, they were granted bail in the sum of D600,000 with three Gambian sureties each who should swear to an affidavit of means. They should also deposit their ID cards with the Registrar of the court.

ASP Barrow, who represented the IGP, is expected to make a line-up of his witnesses to tell the court what they know about the matter on the 2nd March, 2026.
