The event at Paradise Hotel was attended by high dignitaries, party executives and supporters. Among guests were United Party Flag Bearer Talibe Ahmed Bensouda and Mr. Ebrima Dibba, who joined to witness what party officials described as “a successful and historical event addressing the aspirations of Gambians.”
The document, called the Four Pillars Manifesto, sets out GFA’s governing priorities: a secure and self-reliant nation; a modern, diversified and resilient economy; a healthy, skilled and empowered population; and a competent, efficient and accountable state.
In introducing the manifesto, the party offered a stark assessment of the country. “For far too long, Gambians have carried the weight of unfulfilled promises. We have endured decades of misrule and watched opportunities slip through our fingers,” it said.
The party pointed to struggles in agriculture, heavy reliance on imported food and remittances, and limited opportunities for youth that continue to drive irregular migration. It also criticized the state of schools and hospitals, saying they “have been weakened by neglect, incompetence, and a lack of vision.”
Despite these challenges, GFA said The Gambia has strong potential in agriculture, a youthful population, and national institutions. It pledged to pursue self-reliance in food, energy and the economy, while strengthening institutions and improving accountability.
Speakers including Mr. Bolong Sonko, Lamin Marong, and Fatoumatta Minteh said the manifesto will guide GFA’s campaign. The party reaffirmed its commitment to better administration and leadership under BB Darboe, whose integrity, they said, “remains unquestionable across the entire Gambia.”
