Robust security sweep targets crime hotspots in Kanifing

The Police Intervention Unit (PIU) in Kanifing has intensified its security operations with a robust night patrol across the Kanifing Municipal (KM) Region, aimed at enhancing public safety, deterring crime and reinforcing law and order.

The operation began with an operational briefing that brought together PIU personnel assigned to the exercise. Following the briefing, officers were deployed to strategic locations and crime‑prone communities, including the Serekunda Black Market, Brikama Garage in Serekunda, Coastal Road Garage and other key areas.

The patrols were designed to boost police visibility, reassure the public and send a clear message of deterrence to criminal elements. The initiative forms part of the PIU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security and maintain peace across the KM Region.

Residents welcomed the heightened presence of officers, noting that visible policing at night provides reassurance and helps prevent incidents before they escalate.
