At the launch of the event, Liberia’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ethel Davis, on behalf of Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, underscored the importance of the network, which she said, is designed to strengthen cross-border cooperation, while remaining as a driving force for regional development.
He further encouraged WAYPA to champion youth issues and build the leadership capacity of young people, assuring Liberia’s full support to the newly established body.
WAYPA Chairperson Abdoulie Njai of The Gambia reaffirmed the network’s dedication to advocating for youth across West Africa, emphasising its commitment to supporting young leaders and advancing inclusive political participation.
Meanwhile, Gompa City has also become a hub for youth engagement this week, as several local and international youth-led organisations converged for the 7th Annual Youth Education and Leadership (AYEAL) Conference.
In his opening address, Leo Tiah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Network for Positive Change and chief convener of the event, highlighted the importance and role of youth empowerment in shaping the future of young people.
Montserrado County District 6 Representative Samuel Enders echoed this sentiment, encouraging participants to invest in their personal growth and education.
Held under the theme “Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future,” the youth confab aims to inspire young leaders and equip them with tools to contribute meaningfully to national and regional development.
