The operation, led by Assistant Immigration Control Officer (AICO) Bakary Kanyi, patrolled irregular migration hotspots and observed no unusual movement or suspicious activities in the area.
The team visited the Village Alkalo, Mr. Mamadou Jallow, noting the significant role played by traditional authorities in community leadership and security. They briefed the Alkalo and his household on the establishment of the GID Border Patrol Unit, the roles and responsibilities of the unit, and sensitized them on the dangers of irregular migration.
AICO Kanyi encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to the Border Patrol Unit and distributed emergency contact numbers. The Alkalo and his delegation welcomed the team and pledged full cooperation in securing the borders.
The GID remains steadfast in combating irregular Migration in the Gambia through community engagements among others.
