The event, currently underway at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre, was aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of participants on the significance of expert evidence in the criminal justice system.
During the opening ceremony, Neneh M.C. Cham, board chairperson of the National Agency for Legal Aid (NALA) described the training as timely and that it is important for lawyers in dealing with evidence in courts.
"The training will strengthen the capacities of NALA lawyers, who are committed to serving the most vulnerable in the societies."
Lawyer Neneh thus called on participants to fully participate in the sessions and give their utmost attention in order to learn and clarify things with trainers.
Dr. Babading Daffeh, a medical doctor at the Kanifing General Hospital, expressed optimism that the training would help participants in their presentation of expert evidence in court.
He reminded that some procedures need to be followed when laying the foundation of evidence and also what is required when they are giving expert evidence in court.
