The items — clothes, shoes, mattresses, bags and other essentials — were handed over to Ward Councillor Hon. Babucarr Mansally on Saturday.
The donation was funded by the Gran Canaria Island Council through its Department of International Solidarity and implemented by NGO Ser Humano.
The distribution comes just days after Councillor Mansally handed over school materials to schools within the ward on Tuesday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mansally thanked partners including the Ward Development Committee and government institutions that facilitated clearing the containers.
“We really appreciate all you are doing for our communities,” he said.
He noted the donation will directly support vulnerable families.
“I have personally met children in need of basic items, including shoes. This will help address some of those needs,” Mansally said.
The councillor also appealed to philanthropists and institutions to support elected local representatives.
“We have to support them, so that they can represent our people,” he added.
Francisco Javier Vazquez Perez, Director of Ser Humano, said he was delighted to see Tallinding North benefit.
“I go around the world, but here is the only place where I feel it is my home,” he said.
He disclosed that Ser Humano has previously supported schools and health facilities in the area and plans further support for children, schools and sports.
Lady Councillor Mrs. Ramatoulie Fatty also thanked Mansally and partners, saying “this intervention is not the first and will not be the last.”
The event was attended by the Alkalo, Imam, elders and other community stakeholders.
