Fatou Bintou Colley, Secretary General of DOOR EN VOOR, emphasised that the foundation’s mission goes beyond charity, focusing instead on supporting vulnerable communities. “We are committed to strengthening hospitals and communities, using our networks to make a meaningful impact,” she said. Colley added that the organisation intends to expand its efforts and encouraged others to follow suit.
Kebba Sanneh, Principal Public Relations Officer at EFSTH, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting the hospital’s critical role as the nation’s main referral centre.
Dr Fabakary Trawally, Head of the Sterilisation Services Department, described the donation as timely and much needed. “Departments such as Family Medicine face shortages of essential supplies, often forcing patients to travel long distances for treatment. This support will significantly improve the quality of care we provide,” he explained.
Dr Cherno Jahateh also commended the foundation, calling the gesture “a powerful example of giving back to the community.” He highlighted that this was the second donation from DOOR EN VOOR, underscoring the organisation’s ongoing commitment to healthcare support.
Dr Mustapha Bittaye, Chief Medical Director of EFSTH, praised the foundation’s consistency in assisting the hospital. He stressed that the donated items would benefit patients nationwide and assured that EFSTH’s inventory system guarantees transparency and proper utilisation of all contributions.
The donation marks another step in DOOR EN VOOR Gambia’s mission to strengthen healthcare delivery and provide relief to vulnerable communities across the country.
