The draw, according to bank’s official, planned to be conducted every quarterly is meant to share and to encourage the culture of savings with their growing partners.
The draw held at its Bijilo branch, enabled people win different items such as laptops, tablets, a fridge freeze; a cheque for seventy-five thousand dalasis and a batch car.
Speaking to journalists, Ndey Amie-Jallow, head of Retail & Digital Banking at Access Bank Gambia, described the day as a happy moment in which they reward their partners.
She disclosed that it’s a savings promo that they introduced about four or five-months ago to encourage their customers to develop the culture of saving in them at different levels.
“So, we are rewarding customers at different levels starting with the children accounts up to the age of 18 years old; they are rewarded with iPads. From the early savings account, we graduate to solo accounts which is for students.”
She reminded that the idea behind the initiative is to encourage students to develop the culture of savings, saying this is a starting point for them as they progress in their education as future leaders.
“For the students, we are giving out laptops to help them with their studies as well as gifts. Then we move on to the employers and these are people that are already working.”
With this category, she said they “are giving away beautiful fridge freezers as a reward for doing business with us and from then they “move on to the general category -looking at everyone, who saves up to D150,000 or more you qualify for it.”
“If you save, you save yourself tomorrow. The more you save the more the stands the chance of winning.”
She advised that when partnering with customers, it is not always about taking from them, but sometimes giving back.
“This also goes to customers that we are in it with them together. We are actually partnering with them. When customers are not ok, you as a business you are not ok. So, when they save and they’re alright and comfortable, it is also good for the business and us at Access Bank, because it assures us of business continuity.”
The bank official also spoke of the bank’s continuous support not just to customers, but especially to women across The Gambia.
The event witnessed different individuals taking home valuable items including- tablets, laptops, and one Muhammed Leroy Gomez, who won fridge freezer while Group Refet Janitez, that was drawn in the SME category, won a cheque for seventy-five thousand dalasis.
