Vice President Mohammed B. S. Jallow represented The Gambia at multiple high-level forums in New York on Wednesday, September 24, held on the margins of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.

At the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Forum, VP Jallow joined world leaders, CEOs, and representatives from over 30 countries to deliberate on economic growth, energy security, and investment opportunities in Africa. During the 1,303rd High-Level Meeting of the AU Peace and Security Council, the Vice President called for a renewed and action-driven approach to conflict prevention and resolution in Africa. He emphasised strengthening early warning systems, preventive diplomacy, and conflict management mechanisms to safeguard peace and stability across the continent.

The Vice President also participated in the Global Leaders Network on Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescents’ Health, where he underlined the urgency of innovative domestic financing in the fight against malaria. He noted that community health workers and effective surveillance systems remain crucial to malaria elimination efforts in The Gambia and other African nations.

On the sidelines, VP Jallow held a bilateral meeting with the President of Spain to reinforce diplomatic ties and explore areas of mutual interest.

From advancing health and energy access to fostering peace and diplomacy, Vice President Jallow’s engagements at UNGA80 reaffirmed The Gambia’s active role in shaping global partnerships and sustainable development.
