Unicorns FC have emerged champions of the Serrekunda West Sports Organisation (SWESO) Knockout title after their 4-3 post-match penalty shootout win over ten-men Kanifing United FC, after a goalless draw in the regulation time.
The final of the competition, played at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on Thursday, saw both sides put up respectable performance and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities in front of each other’s goal mouth but none could capitalize on their chances thus the game ended 0-0 settling for a post-match penalty shootout which ended 4-3 in favour of Unicorns.
Kanifing United finished the game with ten men after Buray Gomez was sent off for his unsporting behaviour against the central referee.
As champions of the competition, Unicorns went home with a giant trophy and a cash of D15,000, while Kanifing United received D10,000 as consolation.
On Friday, Tigers FC beat Blackpool FC 2-1 to lift the league trophy of the same sports committee.
Lamin Touray opened the score for
Abdou Ceesay levelled the score for Tigers in the 22nd minute of the game from a classic header. They were however reduced to ten men in the 32nd minute when Mustapha Jasseh was sent off.
Ebrima Kambi sealed the victory for Tigers in the 60th minute from a brilliant shot.

Speaking to reporters after the match, the head coach Kanifing United, Haji Tunkara, said they would go back to the drawing board to prepare for next season, adding that his team would reach the final.
The head coach of Unicorns, Dodou Kinteh, said he was really delighted with the performance of his boys as they have emerged champions of the Serrekunda West knockout competition.
