Abdourahman Barry, a murder suspect, who was alleged to
have murdered his biological brother, yesterday opened his defence at the
Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel NKea.
Barry testified that he had never killed an ordinary person, much more his brother of the same father and mother.
He stated that he is a masoner, and on 25 October 2011, when he closed from work, he found his brother, Sulayman Barry, now deceased, was washing basins and spoons.
He said when he went to wash his spoon in the basin his brother was using, the deceased rushed and gripped him, and wanted to fight him, stating that someone intervened and separated them.
Barry further stated that he left the deceased in their compound, further denying having ever exchanged blows with the deceased.
The case continues on 16 January 2013, for cross-examination.
