In 2008, a
mainstream Gambian audience got its first taste of the music and artistry of
emerging artiste, Jah Cause (Abuke Chabu).
Few years
later, he performed at a local show headlined by one of Guinea Bissau’s finest
stars- Sylvester Gomez, where they also did a collaboration accompanied by a
music video. Since then, the rising star is showing no sign of slowing down
with hits-after-hit.
Just like the
case of most established artistes nowadays, music was never far from the ears
of singer Jah Cause as a youngster growing up.
That
self-assured nature came to light during an interview with The Point, where he
spoke about his music and take on the current music scene in the country.
It was in
2015, when he dropped his debut album titled ‘My World’, which was strictly an
afro wave beat.
“I sing in my
native Manjago language and people appreciate my songs. I released my second
album titled ‘Oumundu Njii’ and the launching was held on December 13, 2019. It
comprises hit tracks and was officially released on all digital platforms on 31
January. So now it can be accessed on all digital platforms by just typing my
name”, he stated.
Jah Cause is
also set to stage a mega concert on June 27 at Q City. “The event is part of
better promoting my latest album. The event will also be part of my third year
anniversary. I will also be releasing my new video ‘Me and You’, a love song
very soon”
Commenting on
the country’s music scene, Jah Cause spoke highly of the current trend of music
in country. However, the afro wave star calls for more stakeholder
participation to push it to another level. Watch out for this astonishing afro
wave sensation.
