Faraba Banta have been crowned champions of the 2012 Kombo East District Football Tournament after thrashing Kuloro 2-0 in a well-decorated final game played at the Kafuta Football Field on Sunday.
Faraba Banta opened the tally through Yahya Jatta in the 27th minute of the game before Hatab Colley sealed the victory in the 67th minute of the game to earn Faraba Banta a trophy.
As the champions, Faraba Banta were crowned with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D13,000, whilst Kuloro received 10,000 as runners-up.
Tapha Manneh of Shom was crowned the most disciplined player of the tournament. He therefore received a trophy and cash prize of D200. Bubacarr Touray was crowned the leading goal scorer of the tournament; he received a trophy and a cash prize of D200.
In a similar development, Bakau giant killers Steve Biko beat reigning league champions Brikama United in their re-scheduled Week 12 fixtures played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Sunday.
