Unique Heritage, Real Betis embrace talent training camp in Gambia

Unique Heritage Talent Management Agency (UHTMA) and Spanish side Real Betis over the weekend held a three-day talent training camp in The Gambia.

The training camp brought together over 100 children.

The training camp attracted children from the 6 to 16 ages.

The training was aimed at nurturing and developing young players for a professional career development

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday at the Ziko Football Field in Burusubi, co-founder of Unique haritage, Momodou  Cessay, said the country has been scared and traumatized by irregular migration,  adding that there is no family that is not affected.

 "Children are dying in the Mediterranean Sea, others are dying in the desert. The saddest tragedy is that some children are highly talented,” Ceesay said.

Ceesay stated that some who passed away could have become brilliant players in future.

He further stated that they organised this kind of training camp to nurture and develop talents of youth in The Gambia.

Ceesay revealed that Momodou Njie Bribri shined for Sevilla in the Spanish Laliga.

 "We have this partnership with Real Betis, we hope this would help to nurture talents and produce lot of biri biris," Ceesay said.

Manager of Operation at Unique Haritage, Sebashan Forest, disclosed that individuals and companies were trying to bring big European club to The Gambia.

Forest further disclosed that Unique Heritage Talent Management Agency has fulfilled their task to bring future in present.

Javier Lopez of Real Betis, revealed that Unique Heritage were trying to teach Gambian players to develop the same way they did at Seville.

"It's very important to see here because we all know talents are in The Gambia and Africa at large. We want to develop them under our methodology and hopefully we would start with an academy here with a long term relationship with unique entity.”

“We will be teach and develop players under our methodology," he added.

Lopez said that in Spain a lot of people are working on how to develop players.

Spanish Ambassador to The Gambia, Violeta Insa, expressed delight for witnessing the inauguration of the football camp in The Gambia.

Insa also expressed delight to see Real Betis Football Club, a First Division football club in Spain came to The Gambia to bring opportunities to children and youth of the country.

She thanked Unique Heritage for partnering with Real Bettis Football Club in Spain.

"This is an opportunity for players and this is just the beginning of the training camp. We are hoping for a bigger project," Insa said.

 Insa said out that the kids would be in touch with the coaches of Real Betis with the methodology of training.

"The opportunities are to learn football and sports.

We hope to develop their careers," Insa posited.

Insa thanked Real Betis for organising the training camp, adding that more than 100 kids would benefit from the training camp.

Speaking on behalf of the Acting Executive Director of National Sports Council (NYC), Sara Camara, commended Unique heritage Talent Management Agency for the initiative.

Camara stated that the partnership represents a meaningful exchange between The Gambia and Spain and would develop excellence in sports.

Camara recognised Ministry of Youth and Sports, through National Sports Council sports as a key driver of youth empowerment and national development.

He revealed that football in particular, continues to provide opportunities for discipline, teamwork, character building and career pathways for young people.

 Camara further revealed that the training camp offers young players, age six to 16, a unique opportunity to experience international standard coaching and modern football methodologies.

He pointed out that kids have been exposed to professionalism and discipline, adding that right mindset requires succeed both on and off the pitch.

"On behalf of the Ministry of youth and Sports, we sincerely express our appreciation to Real Betis football club for investing in grassroot football in The Gambia," Camara said.
