Brikama women’s nawettan final: Berewuleng defeat Wellingara

Berewuleng on Saturday 28th September triumphed over Wellingara United in the Brikama Sports Committee (BSC) female nawettan final played at the theatre of entertainment of the Box Bar Mini Staduim.

For most of the first minutes, Berewuleng showed classic superior ball possessions, distribution and were in complete grip of the pace against Wellingara United. As the build-up mounted up Wellingara United executed and engineered superb display that momentarily shattered any lingering hope for a solid Wellingara United challenge. It took a goal by Wellingara United to spart of an admirable Berewuleng performance.

Wellingara United goal which came in the 58th minute from a dynamic cross Berewuleng goalkeeper could keep it and it falls perfectly for Rohey Jobe the Gambia Police Force full back to slot home from close range to give Wellingara the lead.

Berewuleng welcome the initiative with favour and within 17 minutes, Berewuleng the home crowd was restored when Mafanta Drammeh converted to produce the equaliser. Thus the match ended 1-1 pushing the game into post-match penalty shootout which ended 6-5 in favour of Berewuleng.

As champions Berewuleng went home with a giant trophy and a cash price of D15, 000 whilst runners up Wellingara received D10, 000.

The best goalkeeper of the tournament goes to Diminga Mendy of Berewuleng the award was sponsored by Babou Ndow while the youngest player sponsored by Adama Jarju went to Sarah Jarju of Berewuleng. The best Coach of the tournament goes to Sanjally Choi an award sponsored by Mariama Bom Sowe, while Yakarr FA received the most discipline team award sponsored by Brikama Sports Committee. Nyima Sanneh won the best player of the tournament an award sponsored by Ebounding, while the leading goal scorer award sponsored by King Madi goes to Sarah Jarju of Berewuleng.
