Wave’s contribution will support apprenticeships, digital access in rural TVET centres and skills development, under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Tertiary and Higher Education Trust Fund.Kotu, The Gambia– 28th October 2026: Wave Gambia has committed D1,000,000 (One Million Dalasis) to the THET Fund Pledge-A-Thon 2026, a national initiative that brings together government, the private sector and development partners to invest in the future workforce of The Gambia. The commitment is set out in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Tertiary and Higher Education Trust Fund (THET Fund).
The MoU was signed on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, at Wave’s office in Kotu by Sainabou Sarr, General Manager of Wave Gambia, and Dr Jorjoh Ndure-Tambedou, Executive Director of THET Fund, alongside members of the Fund’s leadership team. The Pledge-A-Thon is led by
THET Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.
THET Fund will apply Wave’s contribution to programmes that expand apprenticeships and internships for young Gambians, strengthen digital access in rural TVET centres, train TVET educators, and improve employability and entrepreneurship.
THET Fund will report to Wave on how the contribution is used and the young people it reaches over the coming year.
“Whenever we talk about the future of The Gambia, we have to talk about young people,” said Sainabou Sarr, General Manager of Wave Gambia. “We have talented, ambitious young people with ideas and the potential to contribute meaningfully to our country’s development.
The challenge is making sure they have access to the skills, resources and opportunities they need to turn that potential into reality.”
Sarr noted that THET Fund’s focus on entrepreneurship, ICT education, innovation and youth employment aligns with areas that are increasingly important to the future of the Gambian economy. As a technology company, Wave sees how digital solutions can simplify everyday
1 activities and help people participate more easily in the economy, and believes technology and innovation can create new opportunities for young Gambians.
“For us, success will not simply be about having a partnership agreement in place,” she added.
“It will be about what that partnership makes possible: the skills developed, the ideas encouraged and the opportunities created for young Gambians.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Jorjoh Ndure-Tambedou, Executive Director of THET Fund, highlighted the Fund’s mission to strengthen tertiary and higher education and create meaningful opportunities for young Gambians.
“Today is a monumental day, not only for us at the THET Fund and our Ministry, but also for the children and students whose lives we are impacting and for the country as a whole.
We are really excited to partner with Wave, you have come on board and you have really changed the lives of people in The Gambia”.
Beyond this contribution, Wave and THET Fund will explore practical initiatives that support technology education, encourage innovation and help young people develop relevant skills.
