The partnership will support a family house at SOS Children’s Village Bakoteh, providing vulnerable children with a stable family-based environment and essential care.
Kotu, The Gambia – 26 October 2026: Wave Gambia has committed to a partnership with SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia to support vulnerable children through a dedicated family house at the SOS Children’s Village in Bakoteh.
The partnership was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Wave’s Head Office in Kotu, marking Wave’s commitment to supporting children and young people and contributing to stronger communities across The Gambia.
Through the partnership, Wave will support the annual running costs of the family house, helping provide children with continuity of care in a stable, family-based environment. The support will contribute to essential needs including education, healthcare, nutrition and psychosocial, while enabling children to grow and develop within the SOS CV family-like care.
As part of the partnership, the sponsored family house will be officially named the Wave House and branded with Wave’s identity, subject to SOS Children’s Villages’ guidelines. The branding and official launch of the Wave House will form part of a subsequent phase of the partnership.
For Wave, the partnership reflects the belief that financial inclusion goes hand in hand with stronger and more resilient communities.
“For us, this partnership is about making a long-term commitment to children and young people,” said Sainabou Sarr, General Manager of Wave Gambia. “Meaningful community impact requires more than a one-time contribution. We are proud to support SOS Children’s Villages in providing children with the care, stability and opportunities they need to build brighter futures.”
The partnership also creates opportunities for both organisations to explore collaboration in areas including youth empowerment, employability and education, with a shared focus on helping young people build the skills and opportunities they need to become self-reliant.
As part of the partnership, Wave employees will have opportunities to engage with the SOS Children’s Villages community through structured visits twice a year, in line with SOS Children’s Villages’ safeguarding protocols.
“A commitment such as this provides the continuity that is so important in supporting children and young people,” said Jean-Pierre Kouamin, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia. “We are pleased to welcome Wave Gambia as a partner and look forward to working together to create meaningful opportunities for the children and young people we support.”
All engagement under the partnership will be guided by the SOS Children’s Villages Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy, with a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of child abuse.
For more than 40 years, SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia has supported children and young people who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care. Its work includes family-like care, education, vocational training, youth employability, women empowerment, climate-friendly environmental practices and family-strengthening programmes across the Gambia.
The partnership reflects Wave’s broader commitment to creating meaningful and sustainable community impact alongside partners working to improve the lives and opportunities of people across The Gambia.
