The health screening exercise seeks to create awareness among people in the area on important health issues and to identify the root causes of certain health issues and how to prevent them.
During the exercise, a total of 1000 people was treated and provided with medications, while others were referred to hospitals for a proper medical check-up.
Welcoming the delegation, Kebuteh Ceesay, alkalo of Jarumeh Koto, while expressing delight in receiving the delegation, stressed the importance of health and medicine.
He acknowledged that medication is one of the most expensive things in this country and having it for free at one’s doorstep is well appreciated by the people.
He, on behalf of the people of his village and its catchment areas, thanked the donors for the gesture.
Buba Barrow, the head of the delegation, thanked the people of the community for the warm welcom accorded them.
He underscored the importance of the exercise, saying the latter will help them have firsthand information about the types of health issues affecting the people of the area.
Barrow revealed that after the exercise a lot of people were detected to have visual problem and high blood pressure and anemia, among a host of other health challenges.
The data, he went on, is recorded and they will add up everything when they get back and give feedback on some of the causes illness and what can be done to prevent it.
Nfankemo Jaiteh, facilitator of the screening exercise, expressed delight with the initiative, further expressing their resolve to continue the exercise.
Momodou Keita secretary general of Jarumeh Koto VDC, thanked the delegation for move and expressed optimism that the exercise will continue in the near future.
