The nomination, contained in an official letter dated 5 September 2026, gives Kamaso a six-month mandate to represent and act on behalf of the AMC in The Gambia.
During the mandate, Kamaso is expected to liaise with relevant government and sports authorities on behalf of AMC.
Kamaso will coordinate the administrative, legal and institutional procedures required to establish and secure recognition of the Gambia Mini football Federation.
He would maintain direct communication with AMC regarding the progress of the process and provide necessary documentation and reports.
He will also help establish the appropriate national structure in line with the requirements of the African Mini football Confederation and the World Mini football Federation (WMF).
The development comes at an important time for Kamaso, who recently led Team Restore Confidence (TRC) in the Gambia Football Federation presidential election. Although TRC did not secure victory in the election, the latest nomination provides Kamaso with a new opportunity to contribute to the development of another growing area of football in The Gambia.
One of the immediate priorities under his mandate will be to ensure that the necessary procedures for establishing the national federation are completed ahead of the AMC African Mini football Nations Cup Guinea 2027, scheduled to take place from January 7 to 24, 2027.
Kamaso will also be expected to facilitate the preparation and participation of the Gambia National Mini football Team in the continental competition.
The AMC, in the letter signed by its President Achraf Ben Salha, assured Kamaso of its institutional support and official coordination throughout the establishment process.
The nomination marks a new chapter for mini football in The Gambia and could pave the way for the development of organised national competitions, player development, youth and women’s programmes, coaching and refereeing, as well as a structured national team pathway.
For Kamaso, the task now is to help lay the foundation for a national mini football structure that can become a sustainable part of The Gambia’s sporting landscape.
