The call was made during a General Staff Assembly held from August 16-19, 2026, at Sindola Hotel in Kanilai Village, West Coast Region. The meeting brought together the Minister, Hon. Fatou Kinteh, the Permanent Secretary, senior management, and staff. The assembly provided a platform for management and staff to reflect on the Ministry’s performance, challenges, institutional priorities, and collective responsibilities in delivering on its mandate.
Addressing the gathering, Alieu Njie, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, emphasized teamwork and results.
“Government policies and commitments must translate into tangible improvements in the lives of Gambians,” he said.
He called for stronger systems, accountability, and service delivery, stressing that effective public institutions depend on committed leadership and a strong culture of performance.
In her keynote, Minister Fatou Kinteh urged staff to work with a common purpose and remain committed to the Ministry’s mandate.
“We must move beyond a process-driven approach and place greater emphasis on impact, outcomes, and tangible results,” she said.
She called for proper planning, clear assignment of responsibilities, and timely completion of tasks. The Minister also stressed collective responsibility in delivering for women, children, families, and vulnerable groups.
Also speaking, Habib Jarra, Permanent Secretary described the assembly as a “family meeting” and thanked staff for their commitment.
PS Jarra highlighted the need for professionalism, punctuality, discipline, integrity, accountability, and responsible management of public resources.
He further urged staff to adopt a results-based approach: set clear targets, monitor progress, and remain accountable for outcomes.
“Excellence should remain the standard in the delivery of services to the public,” he said.
The assembly reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to teamwork, accountability, staff welfare, professionalism, and results-oriented management as it works to advance the socio-economic well-being of Gambians.
