Delivering his Friday Khutuba at the Dippa Kunda Mosque, Imam Jawara reminded worshippers of the importance of maintaining harmony during this critical period. He emphasised that elections should not divide the nation but rather strengthen its democratic values.
The Imam further advised citizens to refrain from insulting the head of state, stressing that leaders are guided by the will of the Almighty God. He noted that respect and civility are essential for national stability, particularly in times of political contest.
“As Gambians, our strength lies in our unity and our faith,” he encourages all and sundry, saying: “Let us pray for peace and avoid words or actions that can sow division.”
Imam Jawara’s message comes at a time religious leaders across the country are encouraging restraint and tolerance, underscoring the role of faith in safeguarding The Gambia’s democracy.
