The training highlighted the crucial role of Imams in promoting peace, unity, and national cohesion through constructive sermons. It also aimed to equip participants with skills in effective communication, conflict resolution, and the promotion of tolerance and mutual respect within communities.
Abubacarr Samateh, a participant, expressed gratitude for being part of the initiative, emphasising that the training has enhanced his skills and knowledge in promoting Tawhid.
For his part, Essa Foday Darboe, President of GSIC, underscored the importance of the forum and reminded Imams of the need to always promote constructive and peaceful messages during sermons.
“Imams are influential figures and the number one building pillars in strengthening national cohesion and social harmony,” he said. He also expressed gratitude to Direct Aid for its thoughtful and timely intervention in facilitating the initiative.
Oustass Darboe acknowledged the importance of the programme for religious leaders, particularly in developing their sense of responsibility to guide communities toward peace, understanding, and unity, especially in times of social tension.
