The event attracted government officials, members of the diplomatic and consular corps and local and international partners.
Delivering the opening remarks, Her Excellency Miatta Lilly French, head of ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia, described the anniversary as a milestone reflecting resilience, cooperation and a shared vision for peace and stability in the region.
She recalled that ECOWAS, since its founding in 1975 has grown into a key force for regional integration, promoting democratic governance and safeguarding peace across West Africa.
She made reference to the growing contribution of women in peacekeeping, acknowledging their increasing presence in international missions and impact in community engagement, civilian protection and support for victims of abuse.
Lt. Colonel Mariama Gomez of the Gambia Armed Forces, who served as Master of Ceremonies, observed that the golden jubilee was not only a moment of celebration, but a moment of reflection, unity and renewed purpose.
The parade, she added, symbolised the strength, discipline and readiness of the armed forces, highlighting that their role is to protect peace and shared values in a region facing evolving security challenges.
Lt Col Gomez noted that women in uniform are playing critical roles beyond combat, contributing to legal, health and administrative functions that strengthen justice systems, human rights and long-term stability.
The ceremony ended with a parade inspection, marking a symbolic display of unity and cooperation among regional and national forces.
