Martina’s Foundation, a registered charity in The Gambia on Monday extended magnanimity to Brikama District Hospital with the presentation of wheel chairs, disposable pampers and catheters at a brief presentation held at the Hospital Ground in Brikama.

These items courtesy of Saikou Baldeh and partners through Wisconsin Medical Project, seeks to strengthen quality health care services in the Gambia.

Since inception, this philanthropic organisation has been instrumental in assisting health facilities with an assortment of valuable medical items as part of efforts geared toward complementing government’s efforts in enhancing the health care sector.

Presenting the items, Mariama Baldeh-Marong, a representative of Martina’s Foundation in The Gambia on behalf of the team expressed delight to present the items to the hospital for use by needy patients.

‘‘So, we feel so grateful and happy to bring this small gift to the hospital for our people to benefit from.’’

The donation, she recalled, is the second in a series after similar donation to the hospital in 2021, which involved hospital beds, BP machines, thermometers, mattresses, among a host of others.

‘‘And we feel like it's a very big hospital with lots of patients coming from many communities. So, we decided that we should bring these items again to help the hospital.’’

Baldeh also spoke about their plans to continue working with the hospital in the future especially when it comes to supporting them with valuable items.

To that end, she returned gratitude to Saikou Baldeh and partners through Wisconsin Medical Project for making the donation possible.

Receiving the items, Dr. Modou Lamin Jaiteh, a pharmacist at the Brikama District Hospital, on behalf of the hospital management, heaped praises on the foundation for the laudable gesture.

‘‘We are really appreciative of these items and this is a not a small gift as they will go a long way in helping needy people.’’

Dr. Jaiteh described the gesture as timely and beneficial, coming at a time when the hospital is facing some kind of shortage of wheelchairs.

‘‘So, it come at the right time and the catheters as well.’’

Dr. Jaiteh expressed optimism that the partnership with the foundation would continue to enhance their operations with the donation of valuable items. ‘‘We hope to see you more often. And we pray that Allah continues to guide and grant you and your team to be able to continue such generosity.’’

Meanwhile, the foundation is also planning to present other medical items and bicycles to health facilities and communities in the provinces.
