The construction works was coordinated and supervised by the country director of CHRO-Gambia.
The inaugural ceremony was attended IHHNL representatives headed by Huseyin Gunduz, representatives from The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council, members of CHRO-Gambia, communities’ elders, school children, women, among others.
Cherno S. Sabally, alkali of Casa Kundaexpressed appreciation with gesture. He cited the importance of having a Quranic school in his community as cannot be overemphasized and therefore thanked donors.
Musa Jallow, national coordinator for CHRO-Gambia recounted many projects that IHHNL has supported in The Gambia. According to him, the school now has state of the earth water supply, classrooms, electricity, security managers, teachers, and other facilities.
Mr. Jallow advised the community to ensure the sustainability of the school.
Darboe, representative of The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council hailed donors for the laudable initiatives, saying that the importance of the Quranic school cannot be overestimated.
He also dilated on the importance of education, establishing a Quranic school is a welcome moved and one way of complementing Government effort in national development.
He advised parents to enrolled their children in the school.
Landing Yusuf Gassama, CHRO- Gambia board member spoke on the importance of knowledge which he said is power. He stated that whatever one does knowledge must be applied. He noted that establishing Quranic schools to teach children Islamic is very important. He advised parents to ensure their children learn the Quranic to prepare themselves for the future. He also commended IHHNL and CHRO-Gambia for the laudable initiative.
Kalilu Sanyang, Casa Kunda Village Development Committee chairman thanked donors for making the project a reality. He went on to thank the community of Casa Kunda for allocating the land for the construction of the school. He stated that the sustainability of the school depends on the community. Mr. Sanyang also thanked all those who contributed in making the project.
Sarja Badjie, village elder appealed to donors for the construction of a health centre at the community, saying land is available at the village.
