The donated items, officials said, are meant to support the installation and utilisation of the Children's Software Technology in care and residential institutions in the Gambia.
The presentation ceremony held at the premises of the ChildFund Gambia office, was presided over by the deputy Permanent Secretary of MoGCSW, members of the National Child Protection Steering Committee and as well officials at BEB.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare in partnership with Both Ends Believing are implementing a program to introduce a Children’s Software Technology in care and residential institutions in The Gambia in order to secure data, as well as control the visibility of orphans and vulnerable children under care institutions.
Speaking at the occasion, the country director of Both Ends Believing, Osrian Kargbo, said: “Our intervention among others is meant to purposely support the Gender Ministry in dealing with children issues.”
BEB, he said, has assisted the Gender Ministry with finance and computers in order to enable them have an accurate data collection process, adding: “We have also installed software technology in the rural Gambia with the desire of ensuring that every child, even in the interior, will be acknowledged and brought to the Ministry.”
He further added: “We have 26 homes in the system. We have also gathered 701 children that are in the system. These therefore, make future interventions easier since the location and needs of children are known.”
He thanked the Gender Ministry for the partnership, saying: “In whatever we are doing, we do it together in the best interest of the child.”
Naomi Williams, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoGCSW thanked the BEB for their continued support to the ministry, and assured that the donated items will be used for their intended purposes.
