Mr. Nfamara Manneh and his family are among households whose lives have been disrupted by the recent severe weather, with the damage placing additional financial pressure on the family as they struggle to restore their home.
The plight of the family was brought to the attention of the MIS Humanitarian Foundation (MISHF) following the foundation’s recent humanitarian intervention to support families affected by a fire outbreak in Bijilo.
Responding to the family’s immediate needs, MISHF provided D15,000 in financial assistance to help ease their burden and address some of the urgent challenges caused by the rainstorm.
The cash donation was recently presented at the family’s residence by Mrs. Binta Khan-Badjie on behalf of the MIS Humanitarian Foundation.
The foundation said the funds were raised through contributions from its members as part of its efforts to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable families facing unexpected hardships.
However, MISHF said the assistance provided so far is not enough to enable the family to fully rebuild their damaged home.
The foundation has therefore launched an appeal to individuals, organisations, businesses and development partners to support the affected family and help them recover from the disaster.
It urged members of the public and institutions to contribute towards the rebuilding effort, stressing that contributions, regardless of size, could make a significant difference in restoring the family’s sense of security and helping them rebuild their future.
The appeal also highlights the vulnerability of families in rural communities when faced with sudden disasters such as heavy rainstorms, which can cause significant damage to homes and livelihoods within a short period.
For the Manneh family, rebuilding their home remains an urgent priority, as the damage has created a difficult situation for the household.
MISHF said its latest intervention reflects its continued commitment to compassion, teamwork and community support, while expressing hope that additional resources would enable the foundation to reach more vulnerable households across the country.
According to the foundation’s leadership, the intervention forms part of its emergency response model, which focuses on delivering swift and meaningful assistance to vulnerable households affected by unforeseen crises.
The foundation is now calling on well-wishers and potential partners to join the effort to support Mr. Manneh and his family as they work to recover from the devastating impact of the rainstorm.
The initiative, MISHF said, demonstrates the importance of community solidarity in times of crisis, particularly when affected families lack the resources to recover on their own.
