Hon. Dr Joseph Munsanje, Chairperson of Health at the National Assembly of Zambia, was elected Vice Chairperson of NEAPACOH.
The election took place during the 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference of NEAPACOH, held in Lusaka, Zambia, from 25th to 27th February 2026. The gathering brought together representatives from 26 African countries, including Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, civil society organisations, and academic institutions.
The conference theme was: “Re-Positioning the Role of Parliamentarians for Enhancing Health Systems for Emergency Response, Equity, Resilience and Sustainability in the Context of Attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC).”
In his remarks, Hon. Bah reaffirmed The Gambia’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare system through parliamentary action and stakeholder collaboration. He also used the platform to engage with potential partners willing to support The Gambia’s health initiatives, particularly in tuberculosis, sexual and reproductive health rights, maternal health, and population and development.
The Gambian delegation to the AGM and Conference was led by Hon. Bah and included nominated member Hon. Kebba Lang Fofana, Hon. Omar Darboe (Member for Upper Niumi), and Mrs Sarata Bojang, Clerk to the Committee.
Hon. Bah’s election marks a significant milestone in The Gambia’s health advocacy efforts, positioning the country at the forefront of continental legislative oversight in healthcare.
