The day’s activities commenced with a morning fitness walk from Bao Bolong Lodge to Sankulay Kunda Bridge, followed by courtesy visits to the Janjangbureh Area Council (JAC) and the Office of the Governor of the Central River Region, where the delegation was warmly received by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Sainey Mbye.
Declaring the tour opened, H.E. Raymond K. Colley, DIRSA President, described the initiative as more than a journey across regions, saying it is an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of The Gambia’s history, governance, diplomacy, culture, and national development.
He urged participants to uphold the values of discipline, respect, unity, teamwork, and professionalism, adding that they represent not only DIRSA but also the Civil Service University throughout the tour.
DIRSA prexy used the opportunity to extend sincere appreciation to the Janjangbureh Area Council for the warm reception and to the Office of the Governor of the Central River Region for their hospitality and generous lunch provided to the delegation.
Also speaking, Madam Jarriatou Jammeh encouraged female students to pursue diplomacy with confidence and aspire to leadership, while Mr. Charles Demba urged students to maximise the educational opportunities the tour provides.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Governor, Hon. Sainey Mbye underscored the importance of the visit, reminding that the educational tours would significantly broaden the knowledge of students’ especially their understanding of governance, diplomacy, and national development.
