Members of the ruling Nigerian All Progressive Congress (APC) party in The Gambia on Friday launched the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) - Gambia Chapter at Methodist Academy in Bakau.

The Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) Chapter in The Gambia is aimed at ensuring the Yoruba Community in the country throw their support behindNigerian presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu.

Bola Tinubu, 70, was in June 2022 elected as the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate to succeed incumbent Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari, who will step down next year after completing two terms.

Ocawale Fasosin, representative of the Grand Patron of TSO Gambia Chapter commended the brain behind the movement, adding that they believed they will be jubilating and celebrating victory in 2023 when their candidate emerges victorious.

He on behalf of Patron Barrister Asiwaju Yusuf assured aspirant Tinubu of their continuous support.

“We salute the courage for the continued development of this movement. There are greater days ahead,” he said.

Chief Toye Rasaq, Yoruba Community Country Coordinator, said the gathering was to officially confirm their support towards one of Nigeria's presidential aspirants Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on the role of Diaspora in Nigerian politics, Rotarian Kehinde Omotowa said Nigerians in the Diaspora are a heavy force to reckon with in national development and decision making in Nigeria.

He added that the present administration under President Buhari has seen the need to co-opt the Diaspora into the running of affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Engineer Yahya Salawudeen described Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a man of resistance who always sees the interest of his people and the country first before anything.

According to him, Bola Tinubu survived more than others in Nigerian politics due to human and material capital, adding that if one can invest in human and capital development, it would be easy to stand the test of time.

He added that the APC Presidential candidate is someone who saw something which is not known or seen by others in Nigerian politics, adding that Bola’s aim is to help Nigerians and also the development of the country.

Assistant Pastor Matthew Ajibike, president of the Yoruba Community in The Gambia called on Nigerians both in The Gambia and in Nigeria, particularly Yorubas to join hands and support the candidature of Bola Tinubu for the 2023 Nigeria Presidential election.

Tinubu, 70, defeated 13 other candidates in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. He won 1,271 APC delegate votes, compared to 316 for his nearest rival, another ex-Governor.

In his acceptance speech, Tinubu said if elected he will focus on reducing insecurity, a major concern in Nigeria. Other priorities would include boosting local industry and building a large port in the southeastern city of Calabar, he promised.
