Mr. Sonko expressed appreciation to the Ministry, the Government, and the Gambian people at large. He briefed the Minister on his mandate and ongoing efforts, highlighting his priority areas which include advocating for young people across Africa on matters of peace and security, supporting member states to develop National Action Plans on Youth, Peace and Security, strengthening national youth councils through capacity building, and working with the AU to combat hate speech and election violence.
He also pledged his willingness to contribute to The Gambia’s foreign policy efforts, while carrying out his regional duties of advocacy, national program support, and representation at international forums.
Following his briefing, Hon. Sering Modou Njie reaffirmed the Ministry’s continued support for Mr. Sonko’s mandate. He commended his contributions and encouraged him to work closely with the Directorate of African Affairs at the Ministry.
The Director of African Affairs, Ambassador Lamin Fatti, also congratulated Mr. Sonko, urging him to continue his good work and assuring him of the Directorate’s full support in advancing this important cause.
