A Jallow's Charity Foundation, a non-profit charity established by a team of enthusiast Gambians with the aim of supporting vulnerable people and communities in The Gambia was on Sunday launched at Sinchu Alagie.

The launch was held on the theme ‘volunteerism, patriotism and its impact in national development’

The organisation has been active in rendering financial support to vulnerable sick persons, who require medical treatments both in the country and overseas.

The charity also assists students who cannot afford to pay for their tuition fees both in the country and abroad.

At the launch, Alagie Salif Ceesay, Alkalo of Sinchu Alagie called on Gambians and non-Gambians alike to support the foundation.

He also thanked the foundation for supporting the vulnerable without looking for profit.

Abdoulie Jallow, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of A Jallow’s Charity Foundation, informed that with the support from the proprietor of Jah Group they have supported a patient with liver disease to get overseas treatment and also paid tuition fees for a number of students at the Gambia College.

Yerro Sowe, co-founder of A Jallow's Charity Foundation, said the foundation is supporting over 1000 students by providing them with stationery materials and uniforms.

He hinted that during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the charity extended benevolence to communities by providing them with food rations.

Assan Mbowe and Samba Jamanka, both beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the foundation for its constant support to people in need.

For his part, Omar Ceesay, National Assembly Member for Old Yundum Constituency in deputising for Mamma Kandeh, leader of The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), reminded that people are in a generation where children whose background are not financially strong, lack access to quality education and the sick cannot pay for their medical bills.

He observed that many foundations are formed by people who aim to enrich themselves, further expressing optimism that A Jallow’s Charity will be different one.

Kebba Jallow, National Assembly Member for Jarra Central, while describing the foundation as essential in the society, outlined the need for all and sundry to empower the foundation to continue helping vulnerable individuals in society.
