Sep 27, 2024, 10:38 AM

Officers of The Gambia Police Force (GPF) yesterday invited Musa Sheriff, the proprietor of The Voice newspaper together with his reporter Momodou Justice Darboe for questioning, The Point has been reliably informed.

The reporter has been charged with false publication and false broadcasting, while the proprietor was interrogated and asked to report to the Police today with documents of his and the paper.

A source, who wishes to speak to The Point anonymously,  confirmed the development, saying: “I can confirm to you that both Musa Sheriff and Justice Darboe are currently being interrogated by officers of the GPF at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.”

The questioning of the two journalists, our source added, has to do with an article The Voice newspaper published concerning “President Barrow allegedly planning to name business tycoon Muhammed Jah as his successor”.

Modou Musa Sisawo, the spokesperson of the GPF, couldn’t provide more information concerning the questioning of the two journalists at the time of going to press.

He, however, promised to get back to our reporter for further information.
