
It may be recalled that Secka had previously escaped from police custody, prompting a nationwide alert. He was later rearrested in Senegal through effective police cooperation between the authorities of The Gambia and Senegal.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution applied for the case to be transferred to the Special Criminal Division of the High Court, in line with Legal Notice No. 3 of 2009. The application was granted by Principal Magistrate Krubally, who also ordered that the accused be remanded in custody pursuant to Sections 62 and 208A of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Following the court’s ruling, Ebou Secka was immediately remanded at Mile 2 Central Prison pending further legal proceedings.
