William II FC are through to the Nawetan proper of the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) after beating Gickiba FC 3-0 in the final game of the qualifiers played at the East Mini Stadium at the weekend.
Musa Ceesay opened the score-line for William II FC in the 9th minute of the game.
Babucarr Manka made it 2-0 for William II FC in the 43rd minute of the game.
William II FC were reduced to ten men in the 55th minute of the game when Solomon Kanform was sent off after being shown a straight red card for using abusive language against central referee Alagie Touray.
Gickiba FC were also reduced to ten men in the 60th minute of the game when Babucarr Bojang was sent off after being shown a second bookable offence.
Kalifa Jarra sealed the victory for William II FC in the dying minute of the game from a sensible finish.
Speaking to Pointsports, Musa Jammeh, team manager of William II FC, said he was very happy that they qualified for the nawetan proper, noting that qualifiers are not easy.
“Going through the five matches and winning all of them is not easy,” he said.
“Our target in the nawetan is, first of all, to ensure that we remain in the nawetan for a couple of years and if that is possible we will look forward to winning trophies,” he reiterated.
He concluded by thanking and urging the fans to come out and support the team during the nawetan proper so they could maintain their status in the nawetan.
Tijan Sambou, head coach of William II FC began by thanking God for His grace and protection to them. He added that securing a place in the nawetan proper is long over due because for the past two years they have been taking part in the qualifiers but due to lack of maturity they could not make it.
