The club has taken this step after a string of poor results this season, which has seen the team collect just three points. The decision to relieve him of his duties is made in the best interest of Real de Banjul and its supporters, the club added.
Club President William Abraham remarked: “We would like to thank Alhaji Amat Cham for his dedication to our club since he took over but ultimately, we feel this decision is in the best interest of our club and we need to move in a different direction.”
Real de Banjul is currently on a four-game winless streak, losing one and drawing three of its matches since the commencement of the league.
Abraham added: “We feel a fresh start is needed for us to give our fans the winning football they expect and deserve. The club wishes Amat all the best in his future endeavours.”
Alhaji Amat was appointed as head coach last December, replacing Mattar M’Boge, on a two-year contract.
The former Kaira Silo coach was the man who steered Young Africans’ promotion to the first division in the 2010 league season and was selected as a member in the selection of the Gambia U17, in the same year.
