The deputy director of Health Services at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Dr Adama Demba yesterday presided over the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop on the review, finalization and validation of the national integrated policy and action plan on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in The Gambia at the Baobab Hotel.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Demba said, now that the policy is almost at its finalization stage when completed it will serve as a strategy direction for the Ministry of Health.
She stated that the Ministry and partners are committed to the implementation of the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and called on all stakeholders to support the policy when completed.
She also seized the opportunity to thank the World Health Organization country office in The Gambia and the West African Health Organization for the support they have being rendering to the health sector.
Dr Demba pointed out that a smaller group will work on the finalization of the document before it would be passed for onward transmission to the relevant authorities.
