Milan Rossoneri FC on Monday beat Nguma FC 1-0 to book a place in the quarterfinals stage of the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) League Competition.
Sang Pierre Mendy scored the only goal of the game for Milan Rossoneri FC in the 18th minute, to guarantee his side a place in the quarterfinal stage of the league competition, in a well-contested encounter played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Speaking to Sang L. Mendy, head coach of Milan Rossoneri FC, shortly after the game, he expressed delight with the victory, adding that the way his players do respond in training always gives him confidence, that when they come to the game they will deliver to expectations and give him the needed results.
He stated that their aim is to at least enter one final this year since they are now in the quarterfinals of both trophies (League and Knock-out), but leave everything in the hands of God because he is the one that decides.
He added that if God is helping you, then you also have to help yourself and that they will work hard for it to make sure they achieve their aim.
Bubacarr Nyabally, head coach of Nguma FC, said he was disappointed with the defeat because their preparation for the game was high.
He stated that now that they are eliminated from both trophies, they will now prepare for next season, noting that his team lost a lot of key players this season due to injury, and that they could only have fifteen (15) players for the game against Milan Rossoneri FC.
He said they hope to go beyond this stage next season, and urged the players to take heart, noting that this stage was where God said they will stop.
He concluded by thanking the fans of the team and everybody that has supported the team in one way or the other during the competition.
