Man in court for stealing

Brikama Magistrates' Court, presided over by Magistrate JA Effim, recently heard a criminal case of theft brought against one Abdou Rahman Jallow.

According to the particulars of offence, on 19th February 2010, at Tabokoto, the accused stole from one Modou Salieu Bah, the following: 4 Gamcel sim card, valued at D200, 4 Africell sim card, valued at D200, 8 Qcell sim card, valued at D400, 4 Comium sim card, valued at D200, 8 Africell scratch card, valued at D360, 6 Qcell scratch card, valued at D300, and cash of D900.

Testifying before the court, the complainant, Modou Salieu Bah told the court that on 19th January 2010, he was performing ablution for Magrib prayers when he heard somebody entering into his shop.

According to him, when he bow down he saw the accused under the counter holding a bag containing sim cards and scratch cards. He adduced that when he attempted to approach him he threw his bag and ran away, but was subsequently arrested with the help of others and taken to Wellingara Police Station.

The accused, who pleaded not guilty to the charge was remanded in custody before the case was adjourned to 10th February 2010.
