Reigning champions Sifoe have made a slow start to the defence of their 2012-2013 late Kajali Badjie and late Ismaila Nyassi Kombo South district tournament crown following their goalless draw with Jambanjelly in a tightly-contested game played at the Tujereng Football Field at the weekend.
Sifoe, who claimed Kombo South district football tournament title twice in a row in 2011-2012 and 2013 respectively, came all out for a win against Jambanjelly and carried the maximum points to fancy their hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinal as well as keeping their dreams of defending their 2012-2013 Kombo South district football tournament crown. They caused serious troubles in their opponents’ goal mouth but failed to utilize their limited goal-scoring opportunities.
Jambanjelly, who lost to Sifoe 1-0 in the quarterfinal in the 2011-2012 Kombo South district football tournament, came for a revenge to keep their title ambition alive but were also ‘reluctant’ to notch in a goal, thus the game ended blank.
Both Sifoe and Jambanjelly are both with 1 point each in one outing and would place their hope on winning their upcoming games to boost their chances of progressing to the quarterfinal of the tournament.
It would be recalled that Sifoe took the Sifoe Kombo South district football tournament title back to back in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.
