Members
of the Special Movie Awards Thursday briefed entertainment journalists for the
SMA award, as well as the October 1st premiere of Ibu in Sierra Leone, which
will be held at the Joint Officers Mess in Kotu.
Speaking
at the press briefing, Sheik Tijan Sonko, producer and the vice president
Screen Actors Guild Gambia, said the aim of the press conference was to thank
the general public for the support during the online voting, and to inform them
of the successful completion of the online public vote for the Special Movie
Award 2016.
There
are three nominees in each of the 15 categories with regards to 37 films
submitted by 24 films production houses based on the films and actors or
actresses nominated by their independent jury.
Sonko
added that the special movie awards night will be held at Coco Ocean on 30
September 2016 at 8pm prompt; the red carpet starts at 7.30, and attendance is
based on invitation.
Frank
the project coordinator said this was the third press conference since the
awards process started, and thanked the journalists for following up from the
first conference, where they did the introduction of the SMA awards to second
the conference.
They
gave them a breakdown of how events will take place, and also going to look at
the outcome of the vote that took place in the last one month and preparations
ahead.
They
have barely two weeks to the events; and so they want to put them in the
picture of what is going on, so that they would also have a full knowledge on
the coverage of the whole event.
